Despite our fear of sharks, the chances of getting attacked by a shark are 1 in 3 million in comparison with the 1 in 100 chance of getting hit by a car.
Sharks are often described as violent and aggressive beasts that are out to get mankind, but the fact that there has been a mere 60 fatal attacks between 2007 and 2016 betrays this idea.
However, sharks will always remain a deeply embedded fear in us, nobody wants to die by being devoured by one of these gigantic and terrifying creatures.

The Bloody Competition of Rodney Fox, 1963
While Rodney Fox was in the middle of underwater fishing championship, he was attacked by a great white, who took a bite out of his torso, Fox protected himself by covering up the eyes of shark. On the second attack attack, the shark caught him by the arm and brought him to the bottom before letting him go. Rodney Fox was brought to the hospital in a dire condition: after 4 hours of surgery, 462 stitches in his torso and 92 in his right arm, Rodney was somehow saved! To this day, his survival is considered something of a miracle!
