Stop! Don’t Put These 13 Things in the Microwave!
The microwave is universally accepted as an incredibly useful and versatile appliance in your home. It can reheat food, bake a potato or even cook entire meals, and do so in a fraction of the time it would take a conventional oven or on the hob. But while the science behind them remains a mystery to most of us, you have got to be aware that you can’t put absolutely anything in your humble microwave. Here are 13 things to avoid sticking in your microwave to steer clear of fires, explosions, the fire brigade, emergency services, your parents...and keep yourself and your appliance safe and sound.
Warning: Do not try these at home or at work, or anywhere!
1. Lunch Bags
Mammy might have packed your lunch, but she did not intend for it to go on fire. Intense heat could potentially start a blaze in your microwave. This goes for both paper and plastic bags!
7. Fruit
While certain fruit will get on just fine in the microwave, others don’t take to it so kindly. Grapes, for example, will explode. Yikes!
8. Yogurt Containers
These cheap plastic containers are intended just for one time use and can easily warp or melt in the microwave. Melted plastic isn’t exactly what you want mixed in with your dessert, now is it?
