21 hacks you need to know to keep your food fresher for longer

We’ve all been there. You come home from work with a rumbling in your tummy and grand plans for your dinner… only to find that something in your fridge or the cupboard has gone off.

Not only is this really annoying (and smelly), it’s a waste of good food, money, and if we’re talking about fruit and veg, the clean up can be pretty gross!

There are many nifty hacks to help you keep the food in your house fresher for longer, so check out our top 21 tips!

Organise your fridge

Know that the top shelf is the warmest part of the fridge and best for pre-prepared foods like yogurt, cheese and sauces. Store cooked meat and leftovers in sealed containers on the shelves underneath. If there’s space, keep milk here too because the door, where most of us usually keep milk, gets warm every time you open it. Reserve the bottom for raw meat, fish and poultry as this is the coldest part of the fridge.
