Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton (1967)
The two guitar geniuses are reunited in this picture in 1967 after Jimi Hendrix played at a Cream gig in London, they were hanging out at a club after Jimi Hendrix’ show.
Eric Clapton was amazed by the Seattle-born artist, so he invited him in his flat in London. Rumour has it they tried hard to become friends, but as they both weren’t very talkative, it didn’t work.
According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jimi Hendrix, was “the greatest instrumentalist in the history of music”, thanks to his ability to invent new things and go beyond limits with his electric guitar. His version of Hey Joe and hits like Purple Haze made him famous all around the world, becoming a Rockn’Roll icon during the Woodstock era, alongside artists like Janis Joplin. He died in 1970 of asphyxia at the young age of 27 years old.
Eric Clapton is also one of the best and most influential guitarists in music History, according to The Rolling Stone and Time magazines. The british guitarist is mainly known for his hits Layla and Crossroads. He won 18 Grammy Awards during his whole career. Eric Clapton still plays nowadays, at 62 years old.
