Top Gun was one of the biggest movies of the 1980s, igniting the career of several actors such as Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer.

“The Danger Zone” Almost Wasn’t a Kenny Loggins Song
Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer asked soundtrack producer Giorgio Moroder and songwriter Tom Whitlock to write a song for the scene when the planes land on the ship in the ocean.
Columbia Records wanted to have “Danger Zone” performed by an artist signed to the label.
REO Speedwagon and Toto were offered the chance, but the honor finally went to Kenny Loggins.
Loggins had a string of great successes with soundtracks, including the notorious soundtrack to the movie Footloose with Kevin Bacon.
